  • Why should I use a solar light?

    Using a solar light helps save money, provides a better light, provides more time for studying, is better for your health and is safe and clean.
  • How much do I save using a solar light?

    Most customers report an average savings of $9.75 per month that they do not have to spend on kerosene. This means you will save about $117 per year.
  • Where does a solar light get its power from?

    The light is powered by a solar panel which generates electricity from the sun. It is important to put your light in the sun for at least 6 hours every day in order to make sure it is fully charged.
  • How do I charge my solar light?

    In order to provide bright light each night, your solar light needs to charge for 6 to 8 hours each day. Place your light directly in the sun with the solar panel facing upwards. As the sun moves throughout the day, you can tilt the panel so that it is getting direct sunlight.
  • How can I tell if my light is charging?

    When sunlight hits the solar panel your light begins to charge. Depending on the type of light you will notice; the light blinking (Sun King Eco), the red light on the side comes on (S2), the charge indicator lights up showing the level of charge (Sun King Mobile, Sun King Pro2). The brightness of the indicator reflects the strength of the solar charge going into the battery.
  • Can my light be charged in cloudy rainy conditions?

    Under cloudy conditions the light will charge, but not as quickly as when it is put under the direct sun. On rainy days, put the light on a window sill so that it can charge without getting wet.
  • Can I use my solar light while it is being charged?

    No. You must turn off the light while it is being charged in order to have enough light at night.
  • How long will my solar light last each night?

    This will vary depending on the solar light however; the minimum is four hours of bright light each night when fully charged.
  • How long will the battery last?

    The battery is designed to last for 7-10 years. It is important to take good care of your light and charge it regularly in order for it to last a long time.
  • Will my students still be able to order lights after the SunnyMoney team has left the region?

    Yes. It is possible to order lights directly from each country office directly. Continue to collect orders from your students until you have received a minimum number of orders. Then you can deposit the money into our bank account. Once we receive confirmation of payment we will immediately send your order by bus, to your nearest bus stand. Please note that the price will be slightly higher, in order to cover the cost of transportation. You can also order through SunnyMoney agents in your area.
